Sustainability
Sustainability that starts with every load we haul
Falcon Green Resources turns old shingles into new roads and job-site debris into mulch and aggregates. We also invest in research every year to find new uses for material others throw away.
Our approach
Keeping the waste out of waste
Falcon Green Resources has worked to keep the waste out of waste since 1997. In 1999 we became the first asphalt shingle recycler in Illinois, and we have since ground more than 350,000 tons of shingles for hot-mix asphalt. That keeps them out of landfills and helps reduce crude oil extraction.
Our drivers evaluate every dumpster load for recycling, we invest in research and development every year, and we support the schools, teams and organizations in the communities we serve. Explore how each part works below.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What does Falcon Green Resources recycle?
We recycle asphalt roofing shingles, construction and demolition debris, cardboard, paper and scrap metal. Our drivers evaluate every dumpster load before it goes to a recycling facility or transfer station, so shingles become new roads, discarded lumber becomes mulch, drywall is used in soil amendment and old concrete is crushed into new aggregates. See our recycling services.
How does Falcon recycle asphalt shingles?
Tear-off shingles are dropped off at our Woodstock or Hoffman Estates site or collected in a Falcon dumpster, then ground into recycled asphalt shingles (RAS). Hot-mix asphalt plants use RAS in place of some virgin asphalt, and it adds fiber and trap rock to the mix. Learn more about shingle recycling.
Where can I see the shingle brick road?
At our Woodstock office, 14212 Washington Street. The road is built from roughly 250 shingle bricks, some weighing 75 pounds or more. Office hours are on our locations page.
Does Falcon invest in new recycled products?
Yes. Every year we invest in the research and development of green products, including paving blocks, dust suppression and road base made with 100% recycled content. Read more about our sustainability R&D.
Does Falcon support the community?
Yes. We donate to local schools, teams, community groups and industry associations. See our corporate philanthropy page for the full list.
